Get ready for the full reopening of schools, FG tells states administrators
The Federal Government declared on Thursday that state governments and school administrators would be prepared for the immediate re-opening of schools.
National Coordinator, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, said at a briefing in Abuja that complete re-opening of schools should take place in phases.
Aliyu said that for educational institutions that include daycare, primary , secondary and tertiary institutions, work should begin to possibly reopen in this process.
However, He strongly recommended that States conduct a risk assessment to ensure that all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring system to evaluate, improve and track this level of preparation.
He said that if schools are to be opened, they must be phased and ideally carried out in phases to ensure that this does not pose a danger to the general public and, in particular, to pupils.
Some States have already announced the re-opening of schools. One such state is Lagos, the governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who ordered the re-opening of tertiary institutions on 14 September and the re-opening of primary and secondary schools on 21 September.
